Darren Elias Wins Third WPT Title – Ties Record

darren-elias-wpt-fallsview-classic-pokerDarren Elias has won the 2017 WPT Fallsview Poker Classic along with $326,776. This is Elias’ third-career World Poker Tour victory, which ties him for the most all-time wins.

Other players who’ve won three WPT Main Events include Gus Hansen, Carlos Mortensen, Chino Rheem, and Anthony Zinno.

As for Elias’ latest victory, he was third in chips to start Fallsview’s 6-player final table. He grew his chip stack by eliminating Andrew Chen (4th) and Jean-Christophe Ferreira (3rd). This gave him a small lead over David Eldridge in their heads-up battle, which only lasted three hands.

The first hand saw Elias win a big pot without a showdown. Two hands later, Eldridge shoved with J-6. Elias called with T-9, and the board helped him further as it ran K-T-5-Q-9.

As for his first two wins, Elias took down the 2014 WPT Caribbean Poker Tour along with $127,680, and the 2014 Borgata Poker Championship and $843,744.

His great run in WPT tournaments – including three titles in the last four years – is reminiscent of the time that Hansen won three WPT events within a year’s time.

As for Elias’ career, he has $4,458,858 in live earnings, with $2.9 million of this coming from 2014 to the present. His biggest year was 2014, when, fueled by the Borgata Championship win, he collected $1,317,085 in live events.

Elias currently lives in New Jersey, where he can play at PokerStars thanks to their regulated online gaming environment. But like many poker pros, he continues traveling the live circuit in search of big scores. And based on his most-recent win, Elias will continue playing live tournaments for some time to come.
