Greg Raymer is the 2004 WSOP Main Event champ and a four-time Heartland Poker Tour winner. And now, he’d like to share his poker strategy with the world through his upcoming book, “Fossilman’s Winning Tournament Strategies.”
He’s targeting a release just before the 2019 WSOP, when many players will be looking to pick up additional tips.
Raymer touts the aim of his book as turning “beginners into winners” and “good players into great ones.”
Expect Advanced Strategy in Greg Raymer’s Book
Many poker books are aimed at beginning and intermediate poker players. But Raymer claims that his work will go beyond conventional strategy and dive into less-known subject matter.
“There is also a lot of advice that is more advanced, and not known or at least not well understood,” he said, “even by some of the very successful and high-level tournament players out there right now.”
Why Is Raymer Releasing His Poker Book Now?
It seems strange that Raymer wants to drop his poker book in today’s climate, rather than when he was a huge star after winning the 2004 Main Event. Furthermore, book sales aren’t quite what they used to be.
Raymer explains that he originally wanted to release a book after his ME victory in 2004. However, he was “lazy” and didn’t do so.
Perhaps the laziness came from the fact that he was sitting on a $5 million payout back then. Whatever the case may be, he still plans on releasing the strategy work in the near future.
Obviously it doesn’t stand to be as successful in 2019 as it would’ve at the height of his poker fame, 15 years ago. But if the content is truly unique, then perhaps Fossilman’s Winning Tournament Strategies will sell some copies.
