kevin-hart-extortionJust months after signing a sponsorship deal with PokerStars, comedian Kevin Hart is caught up in an extortion plot. According to TMZ, a woman made a “sexually suggestive video” of Hart and herself in an attempt to extort money.

Here’s an excerpt from the report:

“The person who called Hart’s lawyer did not say what they would answer while hooked up to the polygraph, but said they would only sit for a 6-figure amount – we’re told somewhere around $500,000.”

Hart’s attorney didn’t bit on the extortion attempt, and the comedian offered a public apology to his family and fans.

Here’s part of what Hart said in his apology video:

“And because of that I should make smart decisions. And recently, I didn’t. You know, I’m not perfect. I’m not going to sit up here and say that I am or claim to be in any way shape or form.

“And I made a bad error in judgement and I put myself in a bad environment where only bad things can happen and they did.

“And in doing that I know that I’m going to hurt the people closest to me, who’ve I talked to and apologised to, that would be my wife and my kids.

“And I just, you know, it’s a shitty moment. It’s a shitty moment when you know you’re wrong and there’s no excuses for your wrong behavior.

“At the end of the day man, I just simply have got to do better. But I’m also not going to allow a person to have financial gain off of my mistakes and in this particular situation that was what was attempted.”

Hart is Married with Children

Sources haven’t confirmed the woman who tried to extort Hart. But authorities are reportedly close to identifying the suspect.

The woman likely chose Hart because he’s both rich and married.

The famed comedian had 9-year-old Hendrix and 12-year-old Heaven with his ex-wife, Torrei Hart. He and his current wife, Eniko Parrish, are also expecting a child.

Still with PokerStars

PokerStars signed Kevin Hart in April to be one of their ambassadors. He’s since appeared at major poker events and did a “Battle of the Brains” with retired sprinter Usain Bolt.

It’s unclear how long Hart is going to represent PokerStars. But he’s brought a lot of attention to their brand since the spring.
