Just over five years ago, Jonathan Duhamel made his mark on the poker world by winning the 2010 WSOP Main Event. Now, he’s added his third gold bracelet by winning the 2015 WSOP Europe High Roller along with €554,395.
“It feels even better than the second one,” said Duhamel. “I don’t know why. Maybe because it’s two in the same year or maybe because this tournament was so tough. It was one of the toughest tournaments I’ve played in my life. To be able to make it a long way and win it, it means a lot. It means everything to me. I’ve said it before, but this never gets old. It’s such an amazing feeling. Let’s go for number four.”
The final table actually started with Italy’s Mustapha Kanit leading everybody in chips. However, Duhamel took a big step up early on by doubling up through Kanit. The latter would hang on for a while, ultimately exiting in third place when Duhamel busted him.
This pitted the Canadian against Belgium’s Davidi Kitai for the high roller title. Duhamel played very aggressively with the lead and was eventually able to whittle Kitai’s chip stack down to nothing.
Afterward, Duhamel spoke about his goal to add more bracelets to his collection in the near future.
“To be honest, when I won the Main Event I told myself I was going to win a bracelet every five years,” he said. “I won one this summer and that was great, and then this happened. I’ll be in Vegas this summer trying for number four, that’s for sure.
