Brazilian Actor Bruno Gagliasso Signs with Partypoker

bruno-gagliasso-pokerBrazilian actor Bruno Gagliasso has become the latest celebrity to ink an online poker deal, signing with partypoker.

Gagliasso, who’s best known for his roles in Little Missy, Tropical Paradise, and Rising Sun, will represent partypoker at tournaments across Latin American.

He’ll also play in online events, such as the Sunday $300,000 “Title Fight,” which is party’s flagship event.

“I am really excited about joining the partypoker team alongside Joao [Simao],” said Gagliasso. “I have played poker for many years and I enjoy playing. This opportunity to represent partypoker was really appealing to me so I jumped and it and I can’t wait to get back to the tables.”

Partypoker managing director Tom Waters is excited to have the Brazilian screen star onboard.

“We are honoured to welcome Bruno to the partypoker team,” Waters said. “Having Bruno on board alongside Joao to represent partypoker in the Brazilian market is a dream team! We look forward to working with Bruno to grow partypoker and support Brazilian poker community.”

Gagliasso referenced countryman Joao Simao, who’s one of Brazil’s more-successful poker players with $832,330 in winnings. And Simao spoke about Gagliasso joining the team.

“I am thrilled to have Bruno agree to join me at partypoker,” said Simao. “I’ve known him for many years and when I partnered with partypoker I knew that he would be the perfect representative to work with me on the journey to make poker in our country enjoyable for everyone.”

Partypoker is yet another site adopting the recreational player model, which is often reflected in sponsorships. PokerStars is also in this space, given that they signed comedian Kevin Hart to a deal last month.

Many online poker sites are looking for players with a social media and/or Twitch following, or famous celebrities for sponsorships. The idea is to have brand reps who attract casual players, instead of just serious grinders.
