john-juanda-wins-tournamentJohn Juanda has won the Triton Super High Roller Series Main Event along with HK$22,410,400 (US$2,872,299). Juanda beat Fedor Holz heads-up to capture the title at Galaxy Macau Hotel in Taipa, Macau.

“Playing against Fedor was really tough,” Juanda said afterward.

“He’s a really awesome player and obviously, he’s the guy winning all the super high rollers. I’m really fortunate to play heads up and come out on top. I think we have a different style of playing. It was a good long match and I’m pretty sure he enjoyed it too.”

This is the second-biggest cash of Juanda’s career. And he was just as excited about winning a tournament of this magnitude as he was the about prize money.

“Well, obviously it feels great anytime you win a tournament of this magnitude,” Juanda explained. “First, you have to play pretty well and you also have to get lucky.

“Especially nowadays with the tough fields we have. For example, the final table, I mean, looks like everybody is an amazing player.”

Juanda started off his heads-up battle with Holz with a 2:1 chip advantage. But Holz, being the skilled player that he is, was able to narrow the margin.

The German poker pro had two straight double-ups and even managed to take the lead at one point. However, Juanda battled back and eventually knocked out his final opponent.

Juanda Praises Triton Super High Roller Series

After his big win, Juanda had plenty of great things to say about the Triton Super High Roller Series. He not only loves playing in the Triton poker tournaments, but also everything from the food to location.

“There are so many things I like about the Triton tournaments because they always treat the players nicely and of course I’m good friends with all the organizers. I feel very comfortable every time I come here.

“Manila, Montenegro, and here [Macau], it’s like being around friends. The field is always really good. The registration desk, there’s never any line. The buffet is probably the best from all the poker tournaments.”

This victory and $2.87 million payout moves Juanda up to seventh place on the all-time poker tournament winnings list. He has over US$23.5 million in his tourney career.
