How Betting Works in No Limit Hold’em

No Limit Hold’em is one of the most popular high stakes poker games. Played by regular Texas Hold’em rules the only difference between Limit Hold’em and No Limit Hold’em is the way that betting works. If you have been building your poker bankroll and are ready for a game of No Limit Hold’em you will have to learn about how the betting process works.

In a game of No Limit Hold’em poker there is no maximum bet. That’s right-when you play No Limit Hold’em you can bet as much money as you want, up to the amount you’ve got in front of you at the table. That’s why it’s important that when you play Texas Hold’em with no limit you choose a table with players that have similar sized bankrolls. You don’t want your opponents consistently placing huge bets that force you to go all in during every game.

Although there is no limit on maximum bets in No Limit Hold’em there are still limits on minimum bets. For instance, if you are playing in a 5-10 game of No Limit Hold’em then you are required to bet at least $5 within the first two rounds of the game and at least $10 in the last two rounds.

What happens if a player raises all in? Let’s say you bet $15, the player to your left calls and the player to his left goes all in with $60. You will not be able to reraise the bet of the player that went all in.

If you are considering playing No Limit Hold’em then you should be sure that your skills are on par with the other players and that you can afford the high stakes. Playing for no limit can get competitive and if you aren’t careful you can run through your bankroll in the blink of an eye. Therefore, it’s important to understand all the rules of Texas Hold’em as well as how no limit betting works before you jump in.
